Dish Network prices Logitech's Revue Google TV box at $179 for subscribers

Logitech's Google TV event is just getting started, but Dish Network's page is live and among extolling the virtues of an internet/satellite mashup, it points out Revue will be offered to its subscribers for (the previously rumored and presumably customer survey approved $179. NTT DoCoMo's touchable 3D display prototype seamlessly integrates haptics, chameleons

Okay, that might not be a chameleon -- we're not the reptile experts we wish we were -- but NTT DoCoMo claims it is. Regardless, we were pretty impressed with this little setup NTT DoCoMo had going in the R&D (that is, not-for-production-just-yet) section of its CEATEC booth. The crown jewel of the setup is a small glasses-free 3D display -- obviously intended to mimic the size and style of display you'd see on a phone -- with stereoscopic cameras just above it to detect the presence and position of an attached stylus. As you move the stylus toward a point on the display, the cute little beast lashes its tongue out in the direction of the tip, and a surprisingly strong haptic kick is generated inside the stylus through an inductive coil to mimic the effect of the tongue hitting you. It's pretty obvious that something like this would have neat implications for mobile gaming... but like everything in NTT DoCoMo's R&D department, it's going to take a while to get to retail -- and even when it does, it'll very likely be Japan-only. Sprint introduces Sprint ID -- may spell doom for future Sense, Touchwiz UIs

Sprint, in partnership with big names like Notre Dame, Oprah and MTV, announced its Sprint ID service for Android today at the carrier's CTIA press event (see the liveblog here).  Sprint ID takes the idea of HTC's scenes to the next level, giving the user an "ID Pack" for different scenarios.

But what exactly is Sprint ID? Customers can download and store up to five IDs -- filled with preloaded apps and icons -- designed to meet specific needs or interests.  Once the IDs are loaded, switching between is only a click away, and applications, widgets, ringtones and other parts of your Android experience change to suit your mood.  Along with the bundled applications and media, you can load any application from the market (and other sources likely) and continue to customize your phone to fit you.  Sprint ID will ship with the trio of new phones announced today, but no word on backwards compatibility.

It's a great idea, and Sprint loves to let us know it was first to the table with it.  Let's just hope the execution is well done, and the content is worthwhile, lest it become just another piece of bloat we'd do anything to get rid of. We're not quite sure what Sprint ID will mean for the future of UIs like HTC Sense and Samsung's Touchwiz, but it's interesting to note that the ESPN Sprint ID demo (which you can see after the break) appears emulated on an Evo 4G.

Mulve, the free and non-P2P music download app, shut down by RIAA

TorrentFreak is reporting that Mulve, just one week after we first wrote about it, has been shut down by the RIAA. It seems that, while the RIAA was unable to touch the majority of the service, Mulve had a portion of its site hosted with USA-based Hostgator. All it took was one DMCA cease-and-desist letter, and Mulve is now offline.

As to why Mulve (which is a concatenation of 'Music Love,' according to its developers) had its website hosted in the USA, who knows. Perhaps they hadn't figured on receiving quite so much attention last week -- or maybe they're just new to the RIAA rigmarole. Mulve told TorrentFreak that the downtime is only temporary, but no ETA was given for its return.

There's a silver lining, though: pirateapp, an open source variant of Mulve that downloads music from the same place at the same high speeds, still works.
